While the year began as planned for Cafe Momentum, a Dallas-based restaurant that works to build and develop future culinary leaders, its business model was dramatically turned upside down. The global pandemic swept into the community and "shelter in place" orders were implemented. The hospitality and especially restaurant industry was presented with an unprecedented upheaval due to the pandemic.  

Chad Houser and his team at Cafe Momentum had to swiftly pivot their model in order keep the young men and women they serve engaged. It needed to provide them with a stable place to be at everyday and income to support them and their families. 

The solution that they came up with not only met those objectives, but also helped fill a dire need in the community.  Join us for this online presentation to hear the insights, strategy and backstory from Chad. And an example of conscious leadership pivoting plans in 72 hours!

Always one to add a little levity to the conversation, Chad often describes Café Momentum as “taking kids out of jail and teaching them to play with knives and fire.” But levity aside, it’s this charisma and passion to teach life, social and employment skills to Dallas’ most at-risk youth that makes Houser a hit with everyone from philanthropists and dinner-goers to the young people participating in the program. After 17 years as a chef, Chad sold his partnership of Parigi Restaurant to devote his full attention to the role of Executive Director of Café Momentum in 2012
